Oversized Splatter Paint Clutch

This past Friday I had the above image featured in my Weekly Favorites. Well, if you have been waiting since then for the DIY then wait no loner because it is here. Since, Friday I have been using this clutch everyday and it just adds a little extra punch to any outfit. The best part is the size of the clutch, since it is oversized it can hold a lot of stuff not just the usual credit cards, money, and maybe an iPhone like every other clutch. The clutch I used for this project was one that I found at Forever21, which is now sold out. But the best part about this is that it is personal which means it can be done with any type or size of bag. I think it would be awesome to do this project on a bag like this. Now, lets get down to business!
Supplies:
clutch or any type of bag you prefer
medium/fine tip paintbrush
acrylic paint
water
rubbing alcohol

Directions:
1. Be sure to wipe down bag to ensure a clean surface (I used rubbing alcohol on a cloth)
2. Then, get a good amount of paint on your paint brush and start slinging it to create a splattered look.
3. I had also diluted mine a little with some water to create more of a layered look.
4. Allow it to dry.
5. Lastly, wear it with any outfit to add an extra pop!

56th Grammy Awards

Well there is no denying that this years Grammys was controversial, whether it was Beyoncé's opening performance or Queen Latifah marrying 34 couples during Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's performance of "Same Love". All day yesterday I heard different opinions from all different age groups. I personally enjoyed the majority of it. The two things I did not enjoy was Lorde's performance of "Royals" and Taylor Swift being front row and feeling the need to dance to every song. Don't get me wrong I love Lorde but the lighting was not appealing and neither was the rather spastic uncomfortable dancing. But enough of the imperfections let's get to the good stuff! When talking about the good stuff Beyoncé or Queen B has to be mentioned first. I absolutely love her and everything she does and last night her body was AMAZING. I do somewhat agree that maybe her performance would have been a little more suited for later in the evening but either way it was perfection. Next, we had Robin Thicke and Chicago, I must admit when I heard of them performing together I was a little skeptical. I love Chicago and anytime "Saturday in the Park" comes on I have to turn it up, sing along, and dance. When they took the stage all my worries were gone and I truly think that them together was possibly one of the best performances of the night. I truthfully did not want them to end and could have listened to them all night. Well, enough performance talk lets throw in some fashion!

Once again Beyoncé showed off that body that she works hard for in a white lacey number by designer Michael Costello.

Then, there was model Chrissy Teigen in this glittery goddess dress by  Johanna Johnson. Those two would have to be my picks for best dressed. As far as men's fashion goes I only have one comment to make and that was about Pharell Williams hat.

The second I saw it I thought of Smokie the Bear. It just simply did not make any since to me. Anyway I would love to hear what you thought of the 56th Grammy Awards. To see some funnies from last nights show click the links below. See you tomorrow!

Recently, I discovered this adorable and chic blog called Waiting on Martha . After I found the blog I realized that it was also an online store. Well, of course you know me and I had to check it out and I could not be more thrilled that I did. A little over a week ago I ordered their Spots Matchboxes which can be seen here. I love the little pop of color that these matches add to my new bar. I figured that I would share with you some of my favorite new items that they have! Hope you enjoy!

Roasted Sweet Potatoes

I have never really been a fan of sweet potatoes. I know I need to eat more orange vegetables so this year I decided that I would learn to like them or at least find a way to prepare them in which I will enjoy them. Well, I have found that recipe and now I am slightly addicted to them. On New Years Eve Jay's older sister (Rebecca) had prepared some for the New Year's Eve Party she was hosting which can be seen here in case you missed it. I was skeptical to try them but when she insisted I couldn't say no. I am very glad I did because this recipe for Sweet Potatoes is amazing. Since it is so amazing I decided I should share it with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Roasted Sweet Potatoes:

Ingredients:
2-3 sweet potatoes, washed and cubed
1 white onion, sliced
2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
salt and pepper (to taste)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Wash, dry, and dice your sweet potatoes.
Toss Sweet Potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper then spread out on a baking sheet.
Bake for 20-30 minutes.
Remove and add onions then bake for another 10 minutes.
Once onions and sweet potatoes are soft turn oven to broil and bake for 10-15 minutes.
Remove from oven and enjoy!

Refinished Bar

Around this time last year I bought a piece of furniture that I have been using as a little bar over the last year. Well the only color options of the piece was black or red. As you can tell from past home post red does not go with my decor at all so I went with the black. The only problem was that the space was small and poorly lit so the black bar just became an eye sore. This weekend I decided that I would distress the piece to lighten it up. I hope you enjoy the new lighter look of my bar!
I was very happy that the Pink Spot Matchboxes that I ordered from Waiting On Martha came in because I had planned on working them into the decor of my new bar. Also, if you are interested in the Tissue Tassel Garland click here. Happy Monday!
