Cut Throat

Summer in Mississippi is unbearably hot. It is not only hot but very humid which means long hair is real struggle. I have been obsessing over shorter hair recently especially since June has already been 90 and above almost every day it seems like. This past week I finally got to the point that I wanted to just rip my hair out after constantly trying to style it, for it to only get ruined the second I walked outside. Well I found my inspiration and booked the appointment! I have to admit at first I didn't love it but after a few days I have decided it is perfect for the summer heat!

July Birchbox

Yes you read that correct July Birchbox not August. Since moving a few things have been delayed and receiving my Birchbox to my new address was one of them. Birchbox is one of the things I look forward to every month because it is always a surprise what will be in it. Anyway lets get down to business.
July's box included some of my new favorite beauty products. I just took my hair blonder last Friday and the color preserving shampoo and conditioner by Bain de Terre is amazing. This shampoo and conditioner leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and not to mention very shiny. I absolutely love it and plan on ordering the full size bottles, especially because you cannot beat the price of them. The full size shampoo is $12 while the full conditioner is only $13.50, these are the most inexpensive color protecting shampoo and conditioners I have ever found and loved. Next up is the Gardenia scented Harvey Prince perfume. Gardenia is one of my favorite scents and especially in the summer. Lastly, everyone had been telling me that Resist C15 Super Booster Serum is amazing. It is a light weight anti-aging liquid that also brightens while firming the skin and fading dark spots. Thanks to this month's box I was able to finally try it before buying and this stuff really is pure gold! I have to say that July's Birchbox has by far been the best box I have received. See you tomorrow!

The Beauty of Spring

Now that the weather is finally getting warmer it is time to update my Beauty regimen accordingly. Spring always means more time outside which means I will need to protect my skin against the harsh UV rays. I am using Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. I love this product because it is two in one; it moisturizes while protecting. I have also started using Neutrogena naturals fresh cleansing + makeup remover. This product is wonderful because it has a very light and natural cleanser that also helps to soften and refresh your skin. At night I am applying Boscia Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask. Yes, you read that correctly sleeping mask and it is amazing because all you do is massage it onto your face at night and it goes to work while you sleep. Lastly, I am treating my locks with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil. The sun really does a number on my hair in the Spring and Summer months so I am testing out this oil to hopefully battle the damage. I would love to hear what products you are using and why. See you tomorrow!

Birchbox

This month's Birchbox is all about red carpet beauty. They have partnered with the editors of US Weekly who obviously know a thing or two about red carpet beauty. Throughout the month they will be sharing star beauty tips and intel what more is there to love. Expect maybe the products that I received this month!
First up we have Harney & Sons Fine Teas. These fine teas come in beautiful little wrapped sachets and are full of rich flavor. I cannot wait to try the Cleansing White Vanilla Grapefruit tea. Next is from OPI and it is their Sheer Tint in Don't Violet Me Down. This small little number is amazing because it is a tinted top coat that provides nails with a touch of high shine, translucent color. Onto Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner, it is a celeb favorite which minimizes pores and absorbs oil to make anyone ready to face paparazzi on any red carpet. Who doesn't love to smell wonderful well Joan Vass L'eau de Cristal will do just that. This scent is filled with a chic blend of bergamot and musky patchouli. To finish up this award winning group is the Beauty Protector Protect & Oil, a new hair oil that helps to defend against UV rays, heat, and breakage. If you subscribe to Birchbox I would love to see your red carpet must haves! See you tomorrow!

Tokros Salon

Since, I have been living in Starkville for school for the last 3 years I decided it was time that I find a hair salon up here that I love. Well, finding a salon is easy but finding a stylist that you can trust is the harder part. Back home in Jackson I have been going to the same hairdresser since I was in the 10th grade at Barnette's Salon. My hairdresser there was Kayla Elkins at the Renaissance of Ridgeland location and she is fabulous, which I knew was going to make finding a new hairdresser here that was just as wonderful really hard. Well, as you know I teach reformer Pilates at a studio here called Midtown Pilates. Teaching there since it opened has really allowed me to meet many people, so when it came to picking a salon I went with Tokros Salon simply because all of the hairdresser have been coming to the studio and my classes since we opened. Now, the only hard part was to pick which stylist I wanted to go to. I decided on Sherri Turner and I truly trust her with my hair. The last time I went in I showed her a picture of Ombre hair styles (check out previous post here) I have been loving and she promised to make it happen. I am head over heels in love with my new Ombre hair! Needless to say that if you ever find yourself in the Starkville area and in need of a haircut or just a completely new do then be sure to stop by Tokros Salon.

Ombre Hair Update

The Ombre hairstyle has been spotted on many celebrities. If you are not sure what ombre hair is, well it is basically when it starts out darker at the top and fades to a lighter color at the ends. I have been debating on getting my hair done like this for awhile. The main reason I have been waiting is because I can really only dye my hair in the fall/winter months because if I do it any sooner the sun turns it back to how it was before. In case you didn't already know for the past few years I have been dying my hair dark brown every fall. I am completely obsessed with dark, rich, chocolaty brunette hair. Well, today I am taking the plunge and going for the Ombre trend. Below are examples of the color or overall look that my wonderful hair stylist Sherri is going to be going for! Happy Wednesday!

P.S. I would like to apologize for being absent for two days. All day Monday I was studying for a big test in my Neural Control of Human Movement class. Then, unfortunately yesterday I was running around my house rushing to get ready for work at 6:30am and ended up breaking my little toe. I have broken this toe before and it will be completely fine just a little painful for right now, but don't you worry though I am back to blogging daily!
