Workout Wednesday: Fit Tips

I figured I would share some of the things that I do that help keep me fit and healthy. While, working out is important to do so is eating right. Recently, I have found out that I am allergic to soy. This has made things a little more complicated but it is also making me more aware of the things I am eating and what they have in them. Since, soy or soy lecithin is in pretty much any item that is supposed to be able to sit on a supermarket shelf I have to eat more organic or freshly prepared meals. This allergy means I don't get too many cheat meals like ice cream, M&Ms, or candy bars. Yes, you read that correctly ice cream and M&Ms both of these usually contain soy. Anyway, one of the easiest ways to stay on track with eating healthy is too be prepared. I try to cook my meals for the week on Sunday night that way I will have them ready when I get hungry. This seems to be the most effective way for people to eat healthy. This is very effective because you can also have them already portioned out for each day in order to make sure you are getting the proper nutrition from all your major food groups. An easy recipe to make ahead and have in the fridge are Stuffed Bell Peppers. These keep you full with the added bonus of providing you with some of your daily servings of grains, vegetables, and protein. Check out the recipe for the Stuffed Bell Peppers here.  Happy Wednesday!

I usually come up with a challenging but effective workout for you. Today I have decided to share with you one that I found on Lauren Conrad's "LC" site. Don't worry this workout is just as challenging. Give it a shot and remember push yourself.

Workout Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!! I hope your week has been going good so far. This workout is great because in under 20 minutes you are done. Not only are you done but you have managed to do cardio and a full body workout. Remember to really push yourself for 20 minutes. By the way you can do that push ups on your knees if you need a modification. Also, if you are ever unsure about what any move is please feel free to ask! See you tomorrow!

Workout Wednesday

HITT stands for High Intensity Tactical Training which is wonderful for getting your heart rate up and get your metabolism burning. Needless, to say this workout should get you sweating and leave you out of breath after. Remember, work as hard as you can during every 50 seconds. Also, ladies those push up can be done on your knees if you need to. Work hard tomorrow is the Fourth of July!

Workout Wednesday

Here are my top 3 tips to live by when it comes to working out in the morning:

1. Prepare the Night Before
This is very important because it makes it simple to get up and go. I do this by packing my gym bag, filling my water bottle, setting my alarm, and laying out my clothes. I also try to make sure that anything I may need to grab like a ponytail holder or clips for my hair are easy to find. Pretty much make everything as effortless as possible.

2. Go to Bed Early
Make sure to head to bed early so you are not to tired for your early wake up call. Try to power down any electronics an hour before bed. Also, do not drink caffeine or alcohol with dinner because it can mess with the amount of sleep you get. When that alarm sounds get up and go!

3. Enjoy the Workout
It makes it much easier when you actually enjoy the workout you are going to be doing. If you somewhat enjoy it then it makes it much easier to wake up and do it. Also, before bed make sure you know what workout you will be doing and how long it will take.

Happy Workout Wednesday!

Workout Wednesday

For those of you that do not know already know I am Pilate's Instructor. Since, I have been teaching for almost two years now, that means that my wardrobe for work consists of lots of different workout clothes. I often get asked where I get most of them from so I decided that I would answer this question on here. For chic fitness clothes that won't break the bank the best places to shop are Target, Old Navy, JC Penney, and Forever21. The medium priced range would be Zella at Nordstrom, Gap, and Athleta. As far as a place that will cost you a pretty penny its name is Lululemon. While it may be a little expensive it has amazing clothes that will last after years of wear and tear. Now that you know all my little stops for fitness clothes feel free to let me know if you have any others that I did not mention here.

I know everyone is trying to keep their New Year's Resolution to stay fit or get fit this year but that can be challenging when the weather outside is frightful. Even though I live in the South it still gets pretty chilly during the winter especially if you are getting up early for a run. After six years of running track in cold, rainy, and windy winter weather I learned how to dress for it when I go for a run. I figured I would share some of my favorite and reasonably priced cold weather gear.
Pictured above:
 1. Women's Active Compression Jacket from Old Navy in Retro Violet
2. Gapfit Primaloft Puffer Vest from Gap in Clean Lime
3. Champion C9 Women's Compression Cold Tights from Target
4. Champion C9 Women's Puffer Front Jacket from Target in Blue/Gray
5. GapFit Motion long-sleeve T from Gap in white
6. Champion C9 Women's Tech Touch Gloves from Target
7. Champion C9 Women's Green Marled Headband from Target

Hopefully, these will help everyone stick to those fitness goal for 2013 while still looking chic. See you again tomorrow. Stay Motivated!!
