Gingerbread House 2013

Each year Jay and I decorate a Gingerbread house. This has kind of become a holiday tradition of ours. Last year we decorated a little village instead of just one house but I decided we should just go back to the traditional gingerbread house. Gingerbread houses are always fun to decorate because they can be traditional, whimsical, or modern. This year we went for more of a traditional look with just using red and green candies to decorate it. If this is also a tradition of yours I would love to see them!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Neshoba County Fair

Saturday I was invited to stay at a friend's cabin for the night at the Neshoba County Fairgrounds. Now, I have always heard all about the fair but I have never been or had even thought about going. This is a huge tradition in the area of North Mississippi. The Neshoba County Fair has been called a huge house party. This is a week long event with rides, southern food, horse races, music, Heart of Dixie Triathlon and good times with lots of close friends and family. I am not sure that I would be completely into staying for a whole week but maybe a day or two would be fine. The thing I loved the most about the grounds was all the extremely colorful houses with bright lights. Each house really expressed how fun and outgoing each family is. Before I went, I read this wonderful article on the Neshoba County Fair written by the New York Times. That article can be found here. I hope you had a great weekend!

Lets admit it nobody likes cleaning the bathroom. Well, I have found a new and absolutely clever quick cleaning trick for the shower. I saw this on Pinterest (via) and I cannot believe I had never heard of it before. All you need are the three things in the picture below, most of which are already around your house.

First, all you need to do is combine the white vinegar and blue dawn soap together in the scrubber. Then, leave this in the shower and anytime you are in there just take a minute or two to scrub the sides. Before, I used this there was left behind soap scum in the shower that even bleach based bathroom cleaners had not been able to remove. I am so glad that I found this and could not be more happy to share it with you!

P.S. You can check out all these different uses for Blue Dawn dish soap. I was surprised by most of these. Click here to see them. Tomorrow will be another great healthy recipe.
