SEC Football

Down here in the South Sweet Tea, BBQ, Church, and SEC football are just our way of life. If you are like me and live in the South you know that Football is a HUGE deal!! Well it is that time of year again! Which means it is time to fire up all those grills and mix some good cocktails. Get ready for all the friendly trash talking because you know it is never in short supply when game day rolls around. Now every team in the SEC has different ways that they prepare for the game but here at MSU we have a few traditions that we never miss.
1.     Get ready to take some Aleve or wear earplugs because if you have never been to Bulldog Country then you are in for a very LOUD surprise. That’s right Ladies and Gentlemen the MSU Cowbell. They are extremely loud and I hate to say it annoying, but I love them at the same time because it makes us who we are! It has been a tradition of ours from when MSU was all about Agriculture, like many people still think we are. Now the bells are just our way of making some noise to cheer on our team and to cause a little frustration and intimidation to the opposing team!

Freshman year me with my bell and the big Cowbell

2.     TAILGATING!! I know every team in the SEC tailgates but we all have different ways of going about it. Here at MSU we tailgate in the Junction. This area of green plush grass turns into elaborately decorated tents full of food and drinks all for just a few hours. I love seeing all the different tents decorated for game day. From silverware and chandeliers to big flat screen TVs you really will see it all. Now if you are wondering where the name the Junction came from well this area on campus actually used to be a Railroad Junction hence the name today!

3.     Our last BIG tradition is probably the DAWG POUND ROCK! The dawg pound rock begins a little bit before everyone enters the stadium (Davis Wade Stadium) and then continues inside. This starts by our coach and the players walking through the junction with everyone cheering and ringing their Cowbells to pump them up. Then it finishes inside with the actual Dawg Pound Rock. This is a dance that the players do to the song “Who Let the Dogs Out”.

4.     Also I cannot forget to mention our Bulldog! His name is Bully!

So it’s time to break out all those cute outfits in your teams colors and cheer them on! If you are ever at MSU be sure to check out some of these Traditions! On that note let me end by saying have a great weekend!! See you on Monday!

P.S.  Go Dawgs! Maroon and White!!

Blooming with Joy!

Let me start by saying I am not really sure why as women we always say we don’t like flowers when guys ask. I can remember doing this a few years ago. But the truth is I REALLY do like, actually even love flowers. I mean what is not to love? Having that little pop of life in my house makes me so happy! My favorite type of flowers is Peonies but they are pretty hard to find. There is just something about those big buttery petals and all the different shades that make me completely swoon.

But, since Peonies are hard to find I turn to Roses instead. When I am more of an adult I will make sure to always have at least one bouquet in my house at all times but right now I am a girl on a College Budget so flowers in my house is something that only happens a few times a year. On that note Jay take note of this and all other boys if a girl says she doesn’t like flowers she is lying to you. I wish I could explain why we do this but there really is no explanation, pretty much just like everything else we do. Sorry boys we are complicated but it makes life interesting. So boys if you want to make a girl bloom with joy just give her some flowers! See you tomorrow and get ready for some Maroon and White!!

OMG...O.P.

If there was one person in this world that I could trade lives with I am pretty sure it would be Olivia Palermo. If you are like me and used to watch “The City” you all know who I am talking about. For those of you who didn’t watch that show she is an American socialite who has an AMAZING fashion sense! I would love to raid her closet. I mean there really isn’t one thing that she has worn that I would not love to have. I love to check out her fashion picks on Piperlime . Her blog is also one of my daily reads. In fact her blog was actually one of the blogs that inspired me to start a blog I just hope and dream that one day mine can be as fabulous! In my eyes O.P. can do no wrong. Hope you are all having a great day!! See you again tomorrow!

Seeing things in a New Light

Before:

After:

I decided the lamps I had were not very proportionate to the headboard. These new ones just seemed to be more fitting for the room. Don't you think? While it may not be a huge home update it really has made me happier!  They really do just light up the room so much more!

3.     Going bowling with the boyfriend and his new and old fraternity brothers. It was fun getting to see everyone again and meeting the new boys.

4.     I have missed this girl so much!! So glad we got to see each other and hangout again like we used too.

5.     The Campaign was a great little date night movie on Wednesday night. I mean Zach Galifianakis makes me laugh no matter what he does.

6.     Home Décor update to my bedroom, new lamps plus some more roses.

7.     I loved getting back to BIN612 with all the girls for dinner and drinks!

8.     I was so happy to come home Sunday to pick some things and see my baby for one night! I miss him all the time when I am up at school.

Remember When

This is such a good reminder. This day and age I feel like all we really do is judge people. I won’t lie I do it too. I just thought it would be good to think about it and take a step back and just except people for who they are! So for today let’s try have a Happy Loving Friday!! Have a Great Day and Weekend! See y’all again Monday!

Come On In Y'all

Since all of you have seen my room at my house (parent’s house) in Jackson I figured I should give you a glimpse into my home in Starkville. It is a small one bedroom townhouse that is very cozy. While it may be small I really enjoy it and I had a great time decorating it. If you know me you know that I am OBSESSED with interior design. I mean my Pinterest account is pretty much just all home décor.  Actually I almost changed my major to that after my first semester of freshmen year but I decided to stay in Kinesiology and become a Physical Therapist. I mean I can always do a little decorating without the degree. Anyway here is my little house I hope you all love it as much as I do!

Absence

Please excuse my absences. I know I have not been posting recently. I would like to apologize for that but my life has been CRAZY busy recently. I went from Destin, Florida to New York to Starkville, Mississippi (posts about trips later). Needless to say I am so EXHAUSTED. But there is no time to take a break or rest because my junior year of college started yesterday. I cannot believe I am already a junior. It is scary but of course exciting at the same time. I am very excited to be back with all my friends and am looking forward to Fall fashion and of course SEC and NFL Football. GO MSU!! WHO DAT BABY! Sorry heads up to all my readers who do not really know me I am a HUGE football fan so of course there will be posts about that during the Fall.  Anyway, I am back to my regular self now and will be posting daily again. So do not forget to check in everyday to see what is going on in my life.

Reading List

Being at the beach makes me think of all the summers I had a summer reading list. Since I no longer have certain books I have to read, I decided I would come up with my own reading list! While you may not be going on a beach vacation like me you might still be looking for some good reads. So here are four books that you might like:

1. Fifty Shade of Grey (trilogy) by E. L. James
If you haven’t already heard about this book it is an interesting read. While it doesn’t really have a great plot the racy story line makes the book very addicting.
2. Cocktails for Three  by Madeleine Wickham
This is a quick short read. It is a story of three best friends living in London. While they may be best friends each one has a secret that is about to change all of their lives.
3.  Bared to You  by Sylvia Day
If you have already read the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy then you might be interested in this book. According to People Magazine it is very similar to that series but it is a little less racy.
4.  Gone Girl  by Gillian Flynn
This is apparently the new addicting read. It is about a married couple celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary and the wife goes missing. It is a mysterious suspenseful read that you won’t be able to put down.

Baked Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

I had pinned this recipe to my Pinterest food board awhile ago and I decided it seemed very easy and fast. Along with being fast and very easy it is also very inexpensive (who doesn’t love that?). The only thing you will probably have to pick up at the store is just the garlic and the chicken.
Ingredients: Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, Garlic, Brown Sugar, Olive Oil, Salt, and Pepper

Honestly, when I read this recipe I wasn’t sure how Garlic and Brown Sugar would taste together. Surprisingly it is actually pretty tasty. The brown sugar makes this recipe pretty sweet so I suggest trying to balance out all the sweet with something salty.

With that being said I complimented mine with some cheesy rice and asparagus. If you do try this recipe I would suggest lining your baking dish with tin foil for an easy clean up. Enjoy!
